Mobile devices have created a savvy new breed of consumers who use their smartphones and tablets (iPads) to research products and prices while they are inside your store / business (It’s like having lots of invisible competitors whispering in the ears of your hard won customers).

Fortunately, there’s a way to fight back, gain control of the conversation, and provide a deeper, more meaningful relationship with your customers, all while providing them with a service they've been asking for: free in-store Wi-Fi

While it is true that customers with mobile devices can access the Internet through their mobile carrier data connection (3G or 4G), a large percentage of people report signal problems when trying to access the Internet while in a store / building. People also know that connecting via 3G or 4G uses up their monthly data allowance, as well as significantly more battery power than connecting to a free Wi-Fi hotspot.

Take the opportunity by offering free Wi-Fi, because it not only provides goodwill toward your brand – it enables a valuable means by which you can further engage your shoppers.

Wi-Fi marketing analytics

By being the digital intermediary between your customers and their on-premise search behaviour, you’re now in a position (and have their permission via your Wi-Fi service opt-in agreement) to engage in the conversation, offer price matching, access to expanded product offerings or personalised promotions. These personalised services not only help provide a seamless and customised brand experience that encourage consumers to stay longer or purchase more, but provide invaluable information about their 'in-store' and digital habits.

Data collected can be used for anything from changing signage, product displays or traffic patterns, to providing personalised promotions or offers to individual shoppers.

The analytics platform provides real-time customer data and insight. Secure and available at any time, a vast array of tools will help you analyse and segment your audience.

Real time data can be accessed at any time. User demographics such as age, gender and location, length of internet use, total amount of users and data usage are just some of the statistics you can collect. This deeper level of analytics will enable you to deploy your marketing messages to the right people, at the right time.

Marketing via Wi-Fi

Customisable splash (log in) and landing pages

The solution is completely bespoke and customisable to you.
Tailor your splash (log in) pages with specific branding and advertising.
The user interface is adaptive, meaning it can work and re-size to any customer device screen size (mobile phone, iPad, laptop).

E-Marketing

The marketing tools available in the Wi-Fi portal provide a comprehensive method to monitor and actively promote your business.
You can segment and target the right customers with marketing that speaks to them, delivered via email to their mobile devices.

Marketing Communications are tailored to your needs: offer vouchers and coupons.
You can also create unique emails and couponing to engage with your consumers in real time, based on behaviour (customers gathering around a product stand or neglecting another). The portal allows a bespoke marketing campaign individual to your needs.

Grow your social network

With our Wi-Fi solution, everyone who logs onto your Wi-Fi network will be asked to ‘Like’ you on Facebook or ‘Follow’ you on Twitter and LinkedIn, in return for access. They don’t have to, but we’ve found that most will. Social Wi-Fi gives you immediate social media engagement to a wider network of friends and followers. You’ll appear on many different social feeds, which can provide the ideal opportunity to increase your social presence and inform existing and prospective new customers about related promotions, offers and events.

Wi-Fi security & legal

A Wi-Fi industry survey of more than 3,500 venues, uncovered that while 82% believed they were legally compliant, most surveyed were either running completely open networks, meaning anyone could access the network, or handing out a password, which indicates the venue has no way of tracking internet access back to the user.

This leaves the network open to criminal use without fear of tracking implications. The data also revealed that 58% of the venues surveyed had no content filtering in place or didn’t know if they did, meaning explicit content can be accessed directly through the Wi-Fi connection.

Businesses which give out their Wi-Fi password are putting their network at risk and ideally should provide a separate and secure system for guest Wi-Fi. We not only provide a secure login process but also separate the business Wi-Fi from the guest Wi-Fi, thus protecting your private network and EPOS systems.

There are various obligations of being a public Wi-Fi provider, below is a summary for the UK:

  • Data Protection Cloud data stored by the Wi-Fi stores personal data in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 and are registered with the Information Commissioners Office.
  • Data Retention It is best practice for service providers to retain certain communications data in the prevention and detection of organised crime and terrorism. The Wi-Fi solution stores this data on secure 3rd party Amazon web servers.
  • illegal Online Activity The Digital Economy Act 2010 targets online copyright infringement by end users. Purple Wi-Fi helps you to prove that you have taken steps to try to prevent copyright infringement, as users have to both register and accept terms and conditions which cover inappropriate use.
  • Content Filtering Public Wi-Fi comes with the risk that consumers can potentially access content that is not family friendly. You have complete control over how users use your network: from Internet content filtering, bandwidth management, URL tracking and much more…
Our Wi-Fi solution is a proud member of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and our services includes a convenient content filtering system which blocks IWF blacklisted URLs. Blacklist URLs are constantly updated, ensuring that family friendly Wi-Fi access is available at all times.

Presence & location analytics

Taking analytics to the next level, wireless analytics provides insight into your customers. It allows you to detect customers (Track and heat map density) in your Wi-Fi hotspot so that you can understand your footfall and know if a customer has been in before

Geo-fencing enables you to draw invisible lines within your venue. By setting up key areas to monitor Wi-Fi activity, you can instantly see who is within your network and where, and what’s more, trigger messages as they move into different areas of the building.

Gauge how long consumers will remain in these areas, what purchases they are considering and more. Key marketing strategies can then be implemented in real time. Email and messages can be sent to consumers, (in real-time) phones, highlighting offers in the area they are visiting.

All of these features allow you to maximise your results with a minimum of effort.

The solution works with leading Wi-Fi equipment and an existing internet connection.
